Paul leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Joy (MacKinnon) Reed, his children Jeffrey Reed, Denise Sears (Mike), and David Reed. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Florence Reed, and by his brother Frank and sister-in-law Sharon of Toronto, Ontario.
He is lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren — Kara (Chris), Angela (Steve), Jacklyn (Bob), and Katie (Mick) — who brought him immense joy. Paul took great pride in being a “Grandpa-Great.” He often joked that he was too young to be a great-grandfather, but he was, indeed, truly great. He also leaves behind two nieces, Cheryl and Debbie.
Paul will be deeply missed by Joy’s siblings: Ann Ross (Murray) of Cold Lake, Alberta; Lauchie (Clarah) MacKinnon of Lloydminster, Alberta; Glenda MacKinnon (Bob) of Truro; and Breton (Roberta) MacKinnon of Glace Bay. Though Paul had no cousins of his own, he was warmly embraced by the large and loving MacKinnon clan
Paul dedicated 40 years of service to Canada Customs and Revenue. In retirement, he and Joy enjoyed many wonderful trips together, creating cherished memories.
Above all, Paul was a devoted family man. His grandchildren loved listening to “Grampie’s” stories of his childhood and playing games with him — even if he didn’t enjoy losing once they grew old enough to beat him.
Paul was a man defined by love, none stronger than the love he held for his wife, Joy. He often told people that the day they met was the best day of his life.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 13, 2025 at 10:30 am in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS with a reception to follow.
Family flowers only. Donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
