Pauline Dorothy (Thomas) Hubley

Passed away peacefully October 7, 2015, at Ocean View Nursing Home, Eastern Passage, NS. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Burton H. and Alice May (Langille) Finlay. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She began her career in the insurance business with the Assigned Risk and in subsequent years worked for the Halifax Insurance, Don Gray Insurance, and Simpson Hurst. She retired in 1993 from Simpson Hurst after 42 years in the insurance business.

She was a member of the Chebucto Seniors group, St. John’s Anglican Church and St. Margaret’s of Scotland. She enjoyed camping in the summer at her trailer in Klahanie KampGround and winters playing crib and Uno with the Seniors group. She also enjoyed Neptune Theatre with the “girls”. She was an avid knitter and made numerous items for St. John’s Church and the Mission to Seafarers.

She is survived by daughter, Lynn (Stanley) Bauld, Halifax; son, David (Dianne) Thomas, Lower Sackville; step children, Barry (Germaine) Hubley and Faye (Andy) Moran; grandchildren, Darren and Monica Hubley. Pauline was predeceased by her first husband, Earl Thomas, in 1984 and her second husband, Ira Hubley, in 1997. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Harvey, Douglas, Don (Edwin) and Gerald (in infancy); sisters, Edna Boswell and June Johnson.

Visitation will be Monday, October 12, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home. 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Service will be Tuesday, October 13 at 2:00 pm, also at Snow’s. Private family burial at a later date. Family flowers only,. Donations to Ocean View Continuing Care Dementia Unit or the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Words cannot express the gratitude to Dr. Claire Nowlan and staff at Bayside / Seaside neighbourhood for the kindness, compassion and wonderful care you gave to our mother. God Bless you all.
