Born in Halifax in 1938, she was the youngest child of the late Edna and Walter Horne.
During her early years, Peggy moved to Gananoque, Ontario, later returning to Halifax with her family where she met and married the love of her life. Bob and Peggy shared 52 wonderful years together. Peggy was a member of Saint Benedict’s Parish in Clayton Park and worked at Simpsons until her retirement. She was a kind, loving soul and the family “worry-wort.” Peggy was outgoing and loved meeting new people, striking up a conversation with anyone who would say hello. She was the social butterfly of her swim group at the Canada Games Centre and will be greatly missed by her friends. She loved her years spent at the cottage in Ketch Harbour with family and friends, boating and sunbathing. Peggy spent many happy hours sitting in their beautiful garden at home relaxing with their dog, Bentley.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband Bob Martin, sister Barbara Romo (Frank) and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Marie, Babe and Shirley, brothers, Terry, Warren and Clarence and step-brother Howard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home and cremation has taken place. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 6-8 pm in Saint Benedict’s Parish, Clayton Park. A service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Saint Benedict’s Parish at 10:30 am.
Family flowers only please. Donations to honor Peggy may be made to the SPCA or Hope for Wildlife.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of 5.2 ICU for their care and compassion, to Dr. Robert Scovill for his care over the years, Dr. Keri-Leigh Cassidy for her continuous care and to the staff of Sobey’s Pharmacy in Clayton Park.
