

It is with deep sadness that the family of Peter Belgrave announce his peaceful passing on March 23, 2014, at the age of 57 in the Victoria General Hospital. Born, in Chicoutimi, PQ, Peter was a son of John and the late Madeline (McNeil) Belgrave. Peter was a loving father to his two daughters who were his pride and joy. His mischievous sense of humour, wonderful storytelling and the positive attitude he showed, especially during his terminal illness were inspiring. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Rosemary (Beck) and his loving daughters, Genny and Katie, all of Halifax; brothers, Stephen (Debbie), Bloomington, Illinois; Michael (Patricia), Halifax; sister, Mary, Halifax; several nieces and nephews of the Belgrave and Beck families.
Peter received most of his education in Halifax where he attended St. Joseph’s School followed by St. Patrick’s High School. Peter was employed by the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission for 32 years retiring in 2006. In his younger years, he was involved in a number of sports especially football and basketball. Since his retirement, Peter has focused his attention on spending time with his family and walks with his dog, Apollo.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2014, 2 pm – 4pm and 6 pm – 8 pm in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531) Funeral Mass will take place at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Halifax on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Donald Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Peter’s family would like to thank Dr. O. Teodorescu, Dr. D. Kain, Dr. S Connidis and the nurses of 5-A at the Victoria General Hospital for the compassionate care to both Peter and his loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family have suggested donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any local Charity.
