

It is with great sadness the family of Panagiotis (Peter) Katsepontes announce his passing on Saturday, February 18, 2023. He died in his sleep next to his wife of 65 years Vasiliki (Kiki) Katsepontes.
He was born April 23, 1930 in Daphni, Laconia, Greece. At 18 years of age he entered military service and was posted to Thessaloniki as a Black Beret. Following his discharge he trained as a mechanic on heavy engines in Sparta.
He immigrated to Halifax, Canada in 1958 to join his fiancée Kiki where they married at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church on Queen Street, Halifax.
When he arrived in Canada he took work as a mechanic. Subsequently, he established Peter’s Lunch on St. Margaret’s Bay Road.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Nicholas and Athena Katsepontes as well as his younger brothers, Spiro (Paraskevi), George (Alexandra), Kosta (Panagoula), Louis (Dimitra).
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Vasiliki (Kiki) Katsepontes, his children Nicholas (Montreal), Leon (Halifax), Athena (Halifax), grandchildren Karina (Ottawa), Peter (Montreal), his sisters Despina (Efthimios) Papadakos, Toronto, Evangelia (Nick) Michalopoulos, Boston.
He was a longstanding member of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church and Community of Halifax and served on both its Church and Community Council as well its Greek Language School Committee.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, wine-making and was an avid bee keeper producing honey for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church.
Visitation will take place on Thursday February 23, 2023, 7:00pm - 9:00 pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home
