Born in Chipman, New Brunswick, Phyllis is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) Folley. Predeceased by her parents, Nellie (Geneau) and James McDonough and her sister, Marlene Long. Survived by siblings; Jimmy (Darlene), Frank (Judy), Carolyn (Rick), Judy (Bobby), Donnie (Dennis), Sandra, Nancy and Peter (Nancy) and brother-in-law, David Long. A beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis' pride and joy was her son, Christopher (Jennifer) and her three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Chloe and Kathryn Hind. She was an extraordinary Grammy who always found time and opportunity to connect and celebrate special occasions with her granddaughters despite living far away.
Phyllis was an ambitious and successful business woman launching and building several businesses with Rosewood On the Cove in Hubbards being her long time passion. Phyllis had a vision in 1989 to transform a few run-down cabins on an ocean side property into some of the most highly sought after vacation cottages on the South Shore where countless guests enjoyed a very special experience and very often became friends with Phyllis. Phyllis was a vibrant member of the Hubbards and Halifax communities and in February 2006 her vision and success was recognized as Small Business Owner of the year by the Metro Halifax Business Awards.
Phyllis was blessed with strong and genuine friendships from all aspects of her life. With a twinkle in her eye and a disarming smile, Phyllis could start up a conversation with anyone and everyone. People were drawn to her warmth, love of life, endless ideas and unwavering loyalty.
Enormous gratitude goes to Phyllis' sisters, Judy, Nancy and Carolyn and the many doctors, nurses and care workers who took wonderful care of her and ensured that her last months and days were full of love, laughter and dignity.
We will miss her every day and take comfort in the wonderful memories we have of our incredible Mom, Grammy, wife, sister and friend.
