Randall 'Randy' Rafuse

Randall (Randy) Charles Rafuse passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, January 23, 2015 at the age of 61. The eldest child of loving parents Reginald and Kay Rafuse, Randy was born in Halifax and raised in Timberlea alongside his sister Crystal. From humble beginnings Randy would learn the values that shaped his honourable character; selflessness, compassion, and generosity from his mother; competence, loyalty, strength, and wit from his father. Later as a young man, Randy became a child of the 70's who would always hold dear to him the simplicity and freedom of those carefree days. He would meet his wife Laila while attending Saint Mary's University in 1972, and would have a lasting and happy marriage from 1977 onward. Their love for each other would bloom into a family with the birth of their son Christopher in 1982. As a husband, father, friend, and competent professional of the insurance industry, Randy cared deeply for the people and things near to his heart. The greatest joys of his life were in seeing the happiness of others through his caring actions, ensuring that they had what they needed and, often, what they wanted. Randy's interests were simple in nature but rich in pleasure. He was an expert marksman who enjoyed target shooting of all types alongside his many friends at the gun club. He was also an avid fly fisherman who found peace in the solitude and tranquility of a quaint brook, lake, or stream. He will be dearly missed by all of the people he touched during his wonderful life and will live always in the ever glowing memories that we carry of him. Services will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home located at 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax B3S 0E1(902-455-0531) Thursday January 29: visitation at 4PM, celebration of life at 4:45PM, and reception at 5:30PM. The family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers (www.cancer.ca).
