

Anthony Randall Smith passed away late in the evening of November 22nd in Halifax after a life time of battling multiple sclerosis. He was the third child of Percy John and Geraldine Monica (MacDonald) Smith.
Randall grew up happily in Halifax, attending her schools and Dalhousie University. He completed his formal education in accounting with Price Waterhouse and Doane’s eventually earning his C.A.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Connor Smith; daughter, Alexandra (Dan Fournier); son, Andrew; as well as his brother, Warren (Barbara) and his sister, Sharon Murphy (Donald). He has five delightful grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith Elaine and his parents.
Randall will be remembered for his individuality and his courage. His knowledge of history, money and politics was singular, current and eclectic. His courage in dealing with his illness was unequaled. His commitment to his practice was remarkable and gave focus to his life. He was proud of Smith & Tousenard and was delighted that the firm would outlast him.
And last, he will be known for his commitment to and his pride in Alexandra and his loyalty to Andrew. Andrew has repaid his father’s faith in him by spending almost every Sunday for the last three years with his father watching old movies, football and Great Courses.
Visitation will be at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Monday, November 28, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9pm. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday November 29 at 10am at St Mary’s Basilica, 5221 Spring Garden Road.
