Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Francis Joseph “Frank” and Helen Margaret (Gillespie) Reyno. In his youth, Paul rowed competitively for the MicMac Boat Club, and in later years recreationally at Saint Mary’s and North Star Rowing Clubs. Following his education at St. Patrick’s High School and Saint Mary’s University, he began a retail career with Zeller’s in Toronto, continuing in various management positions in Ottawa, Sudbury, and Willowdale, Ontario; and in Truro, Bedford, and Amherst, Nova Scotia. He then worked for Co-op Atlantic in Shubenacadie as General Manager of the Grocery, Farm, and Petroleum Centres. His career path led him to Mount Saint Vincent University, first as Purchasing Agent, then as Director of Physical Plant until his retirement in 2007.
Paul was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. “Papa” spent countless hours with them, whether it was playing, walking, or attending special events. They loved his cooking and thought he could repair anything. He also enjoyed golfing, reading, gardening, travelling, and watching hockey and university football. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Anne (Robertson) Reyno; daughters, Colleen Jean Nixon, Hubley; Karen Margaret (David) Simpson, Halifax; grandchildren, Rachel & Daniel Nixon and Kaelyn & William Simpson; brothers, Ted (Audrey) Reyno; Aubrey Reyno; sister-inlaw, Joan Reyno; and nieces and nephews.
