Passed away at home surrounded by family on October 26, 2021 at the age of 84. Born in Herring Cove, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (Hanrahan) and Lorne Dempsey. Janet leaves behind four children, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one to come. She was a homemaker and took pride in raising her children and keeping her home clean and dust free. She enjoyed puzzles, including crossword, and she helped teach children to skate at the Lion’s rink. Janet was a faithful parishioner of St. Paul’s Church in Herring Cove. She never missed saying her rosary daily and attended mass on a regular basis. She helped the church fundraising efforts by baking pies and cakes.
Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Wallace; children, Wallace (Patricia), Anne (Jack) Gibara, Kathleen (Tom) Reyno, Mary (Dan) Duchesne; sister, Margaret Ann Elliott; grandchildren, Jacob, Erica (Mark), Samantha (Brennan), Alicia (Justin), Christa (Scott), Melanie (Andrew), and Emily (Tyler); great grandchildren, Thomas, Margaret and Sarah; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings; Lorna, Francis, Brendan, Kevin, Gerald, Brian, Dennis, Daniel, and Mary.
We would like to extend our thanks to the QEII Palliative Care team, the VON, Closing the Gap Healthcare team, Dr. Rayson, and Dr. Jeremy Smith, for their care and compassion. And also to Margo Briggs for helping with the arrangements for the mass.
