Rita Marie Shubert

Rita Marie Shubert (Fougere) passed on at age 90 on October 17, 2025. She was born in Halifax on September 18, 1935 and is survived by her son Patrick (Ann Marie), and daughters Pauline (Don), Cathy (Ray), Monique (Graham) and Patricia (Paul). She is also survived by her grandchildren Crystal, Gregory, Lindsay, Chantal, Jessica, Mitchell and Emily as well as her six great- grandchildren Gavyn, Charley, Adley, Jack, Liam and Emma. She was predeceased by husband Murray and grandson Stephen. Rita came from a large family and is also survived by one brother Jimmy and seven sisters: Kathleen, Audrey, Theresa, Anne, Doris, Elizabeth, and Rosemary. She was predeceased by bothers Kenny and Rene.

In her life she loved to play crib, knit, bowl and dance. Rita always looked forward to her annual sisters’ sleepover. She especially enjoyed a good dinner with friends and/or family. Her family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Melville Gardens for looking after her and providing her with a wide range of entertaining activities which she enjoyed to the fullest. Thank you also to the medical staff who looked after her health requirements.

Funeral arrangements are being made by J A Snow Funeral home 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 27 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, October 28th at12:15 pm in Saint Benedict Catholic Church, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax, NS. Reception to follow at the church.
