Dear Logan and Betty
We are very saddened to hear of Robbie’s passing. I can remember when Logan and I 1st worked together and it turned out that both Robbie and our son Mike were born at the Grace Maternity Hospital on the same day and Betty and my wife Trish were roommates. That seems like yesterday. Our hearts , thoughts and prayers go out to you at this very difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to Tara and family and friends for your loss.  I worked out of the same MaCara offices and depot that Robbie did for about 6 years and during this time I got to know and chat with him often.  No matter what time a day Robbie would always greet you with a smile and a laugh. Robbie had a great sense of humour, was quick to lend a hand and always took his work seriously.  Robbie positively touched many people during his short time on this earth and I will always remember him .

My sincerest condolences to all Robbie's family, friends and the many folks he had an impact on. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Robbie's unexpected passing. He was a larger than life character that was full of laughter & empathy that can't easily be matched in this world.

I met Robbie shortly after I joined the Eastlink field operations team back in 2008 or so. We didn't work directly together every day in the same workgroup but we did work together often on larger initiatives. Due to the type of person he was, aside from colleagues, we became fast friends. He was so open, warm and just an all around stellar human being even quickly inviting me into his circle of friends & family back then.

Although we had lost some contact over the last years as I changed departments within Eastlink, I would still run into him when passing through Macara office or out in the field around the city. His smile, laughter and our good conversations were always a highlight on those days. He will be greatly missed by all who had the wonderful opportunity to meet and experience him.

Robbie was a dear friend and former coworker.
He was always there if you needed him, he had a loads of empathy, and support to give.
I am so shocked by his passing. If there were more people like him in this world, the world would be far better off for it. He was a skilled craftsman and I was lucky enough to be given one of his handmade BBQs as a retirement gift. This man was full of heart and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to have him in my life.  I will carry his memory and positivity always.

Moving my family from the West Coast to the East Coast was a big leap, but Robbie made me feel welcome and at ease from day one. 

He introduced me to everyone around him with that effortless warmth. When you talked to him, you felt he was truly engaged , one of those people who made you feel important. 

Robbie was one of those salt-of-the-earth guys I always looked forward to seeing in the morning , the kind who could force a smile and a laugh out of anyone, no matter what. 

A person’s true wealth should be measured by the love and smiles that person created. And the friends they have acquired along the way. 

Robbie was a very wealthy man.

It is with deep sadness that I mark the passing of Robbie, a man who was far more than just a colleague. For 6 years, he was a pivotal force in my professional life, a rare combination of a brilliant mentor, a reliable teammate, and a true friend.

When I first began at Eastlink in 2014, Robbie immediately took me under his wing. He didn’t just give advice, he shared his time and expertise, patiently guiding me and making sure I gained the confidence to succeed. That early mentorship wasn't just helpful, it shaped my career and professional outlook. I am immensely grateful for his generosity and faith in me during those formative days.

We met first day of grade 10 and never looked back.  Even with me living on the West coast for the last 20 years, we didn’t talk as much as we should have nor get to see each other a lot but when we would get together the gaps never mattered.  In our house he was like another son or brother.

His smile and laugh lit the room.  So many people were touched by having him in their lives.  My heart felt love and sorrows go out to all his family and friends that have been left heartbroken.

I never met Rob but know the whole MacKay family & John Patriquin as well. I am so sorry for such a shocking loss. May healing come with time.

I had the privilege of being associated with Robbie during his time with the cadets. He was a remarkable young person who grew to be a grand man who impacted many lives with just his presence. I am so sorry for your loss.

Rob old buddy we shared a lot of great childhood memories together! You were babysat at the Hausmans right across the street and we would play road hockey 🥅 and Nintendo and hide 🫣 and seek! My heart goes out to the family. Robbie was my best friend growing up in Sackville. He was the reason I also went into Cadets with the Halifax Rifles. We played in the woods everyday behind his house. It’s been a long time since I seen him last. But this month my son started cadets and it brought back so many great memories. Sorry for your loss Logan and Betty.  Thanks for all your help driving me to buskers, cadets, Ron’s army Navy and just letting me be one of Robbie’s childhood friends.
