It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Robert Earl Dunbar, age 89. Robert passed away peacefully at the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 22nd. Born in Neepawa, Manitoba, Robert worked as an autobody mechanic and took great pride in his work. After retiring, Robert found great pleasure in nature and wildlife, especially fishing. He loved to sit and watch the birds and was excellent at mimicking their chirps and whistles. He was talented with painting and enjoyed using watercolours to paint nature scenes and animals. He moved to Nova Scotia in his later years and he thoroughly enjoyed travelling throughout the province and feasting on seafood chowders. Always up for a game of pool or darts, he could play a wicked game of cribbage.
Robert is survived by his daughter Sharon Elaine of Calgary, Alberta, his sons Robert Charles (Shirley) of Calgary, Alberta, Thomas Henry (Sadie) of Timberlea, Nova Scotia, his sister, Norma Glenys Drayson of Billings, Montana, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his mother Mary Jane (Edwards) and his father Thomas Henry, his brothers Thomas Henry, Melvin Roy, Emlyn Llewellyn, sisters Annie Adaline, Henrietta May and Althea Gwendolyn.
Special thanks to the VON, the paramedics, and the doctors and nurses at the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Hospital in Halifax. Robert's life will be celebrated privately by his family. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
