Bob was born in Fredericton New Brunswick in 1941 to Mildred and Charles Grant. He grew up in rural Fredericton developing a love for hockey and becoming a fierce defenceman, playing for Fredericton High and UNB. At MacDonald College, he won the Major M award for hockey and Bev, the love of his life! After graduating from McGill with a degree in Agricultural Economics, his career in Sales and Marketing took Bob and his family to many corners of the country. From Nova Scotia to many of the Western Provinces and Ontario, Bob finished his career working for P & H Foods (Butterball turkey products) where he loved to tell people he sold “dead birds”.
Heart disease in 1996 led to an operation that changed his life forever giving what he felt was a second chance. There was no more grateful a person than Bob for his family, his friends, his health, his life and perhaps a good shot right down the fairway.!
Bob is survived by his loving wife Bev of 57 years and his two daughters, Kelly (Steve) and Alison. He was a proud husband, father, Grampy and Boppie to his five grandchildren; Jacob, Peter, Dana, Natalie and Rachel.
Predeceased by step brother George and sister Jane, he is lovingly remembered by sisters Mary (Dick) and Anne (Bob) and step brother Ralph (Gail) along with many nieces and nephews.
Retirement gave Bob a chance to redesign his life and that he did. Travels, games of golf and bridge, book club, his Economist magazine and keeping up with business news (BNN) with a scotch or a beer in hand kept him very content. Bob was a long time member of Bethany United Church and sang in their choir for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed music and loved any concert. Family events were truly treasured along with time spent with many friends. Bob was a generous, supportive and positive person who always had a smile and a genuine warmth to him.
Funeral service will be held at Bethany United Church on May 17, 2025 at 2 pm. Visitation will be held Fri, May 16th 7-9 pm in the Chapel.
The family wishes to thank the respiratory team at QEII infirmary for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Bethany United Church would be gratefully received.
Rest in peace Bob, you left the world a better place.
"Talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in. How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care. How long it's been since yesterday and what about tomorrow. What about our dreams and all the memories we share" ~ John Denver
