Jamie was born in Halifax Nova Scotia on January 4, 1970. He was the first son of Tom and Marion Leahey.
Jamie suffered from lifelong effects of Congenital Rubella (a virus largely eradicated through mass vaccination). He had his first open heart surgery at age four; countless eye and heart procedures followed. Fortunately, Jamie loved being the centre of attention and was always a cheerful patient.
Jamie loved to travel and despite being legally blind and Deaf, he could independently navigate any large city or amusement park. At age 16, he traveled alone across Canada to visit family.
Jamie graduated from the Amherst school for the Deaf. He then worked at Fireside Kitchen (Prescott Group) for 26 years until his retirement in 2019.
Jamie knew magic. He loved Charlie Chaplin films, Christmas and spent time collecting movies, safes and piggy banks.
Jamie was kind and generous. He believed everyone deserved a second chance. He never held a grudge. He will be missed.
Jamie is survived by his mother Marion, sister Keya and grandmother Phyllis. Aunts and Uncles Madeline, Howard, Shelagh, Jim, Ann, Brenda, Harry, Kathy, Gus, Robert, Eileen, Terry and Rebecca.
