Ted was born in Cornwall, Ontario and was the eldest child of the late Marjorie (nee Pimm) Lemoyre, the late Vernon Lemoyre and stepfather Alan McGonegal.
He was the dear brother of Tim Lemoyre (Nancy Summers) of Roundlake Centre; the late Thomas Lemoyre (the late Suzanne Staniszewski) of Oakville; and the late Geoffrey Lemoyre (Christine O'Donohue) of Toronto.
The loving father of Joel Lemoyre (Martha Baldwin) of Cobourg, Ontario and uncle to David, Allison, Timmy, Matthew, Meghan, Colin, and Katie.
Moving from Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1979 to start a family and career, Ted wore many hats, but had always worked in public service. The majority of his career was serving children with special needs, as a teaching assistant with the Halifax Regional School Board and eventually into his retirement years, as a crossing guard in his own neighbourhood of Fairview.
He loved living in the Stoneybrook Apartments for over 30 years, where he was friends with many neighbours and staff. He was a profound armchair athlete, having cheered for many sports teams while enjoying endless slices of pizza and hamburgers. Ted died a proud Nova Scotian who embodied the friendly spirit of a Maritimer. He will always be remembered as a unique character.
The family would like to thank all those who helped ensure his safe return home, including: Germaine Devoe-Gallop of Stoneybrook Apartments, the many volunteers of the Halifax Search and Rescue, members of the Halifax Regional Police - especially Sergeant Gena Graham for her constant communication and support to the family - as well as the staff at the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office.
A Celebration of Life to be held at Hillside United Church in Halifax, with a late Fall date to be announced.
If so desired, donations can be made in Ted's memory to Halifax Search and Rescue https://halifaxsar.ca/donate-today/ or the Halifax Regional Police Foundation via the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia https://cfns.ca/halifaxregionalpolicefoundation/.
