

Robert A Street, of Halifax, who possessed great health, wit, energy and a zest for life, died suddenly on December 30, 2025, at the age of 87. Robert was born in Halifax, the younger son of the late Helen and Wesley Street. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne Street, daughters, Heather (de Berdt Romilly & George), and Susan Street and Chris Fralic, his brother David (Cremona), Alberta, two grandchildren, Laura and Andrew de Berdt Romilly, as well as nephews, Michael Street (Judy) in Calgary, Peter Street (Janice) in Calgary, Paul Street (Cindy) in Whistler, B.C., and niece AnnMarie MacDonald (Danny) of Lower Sackville, NS.
Robert was a graduate of Dalhousie University (BComm ’58, LLB ’61, LLM ’82) and an MBA ’63 from Western University. He was the youngest graduate in his Law class. He was an Industrial Relations Manager with two manufacturing companies prior to joining the Dalhousie University School of Business, where he taught Commercial Law, Labour Relations and Negotiations, being the recipient of a number of teaching awards including Professor of the Year and Award of Excellence in Teaching. During his time at Dalhousie, Robert was the Negotiator for the NS School Boards Association for 10 years and practiced law at Crowe Dillon Robinson.
Robert was a generous supporter of organizations he believed did important work and were well managed like Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia, EPIC (Cape Breton) and MOCEAN and regularly recognized the people who often go overlooked. Robert demonstrated his commitment to public legal education through his donations and gifts of time and expertise. He provided free training of volunteers in Bridgewater who greatly enjoyed his sessions, for the LISNS Public Navigator Program which received a 2016 CBA-NS Access to Justice Award and Robert was also honoured through the Public Legislature at a Recognition Ceremony for improving public access to justice. He also was an expert speaker for LISNS Investor Protection Project podcast series and was recently assisting with LISNS estate navigator project.
Robert enjoyed spending time working in a fair-sized vegetable garden and caring for highbush blueberry trees, raspberry canes, potato patch and Concord grapes. Other than being with his family, he enjoyed nothing better than operating his tractor.
There will be no visitation as per his request and his remains have been cremated. There will be a private family service at St. James Chapel on January 20, 2026 at 2pm and a graveside service in the Spring. No flowers please and if one wishes to make a donation in his memory, please do so to the organization of your choice.
