Rob was born on March 27, 1981, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is the first of three sons, to Doreen Marie Walker and Ronald (Robert) Awalt. Rob was raised by his grandparents, Joan and Ronald Awalt, and grew up in Timberlea, which is where he also built a beautiful life with Tina and their two children.
Rob started his career doing stone masonry, landscaping and spent the winters snow plowing. Later, he found his true calling as a Red Seal Oil Burner Technician. For more than 15 years, he faithfully served his customers, earning their trust and respect resulting in many friendships along the way. Rob was a jack of all trades; he was the man to call if you needed something fixed.
Rob was intelligent, funny, patient, loyal, and kind. He would do anything for the people he loved. He enjoyed music, good friends, and cooking. A highlight of Rob's life was time spent at the family cottage in Cape George, Antigonish. Whether he was mowing the lawn, fixing something, fishing or ATVing with his sons, or simply enjoying the peace and beauty around him, those days brought him happiness. His dream was to retire there and enjoy the simple life.
His greatest accomplishment and his greatest joy were his family. Rob is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Tina Walker (Hawes). Their love story began when they were just 13 years old. Together for 31 years and married for 22, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, friendship, and devotion. To know Rob was to know how deeply he loved Tina. It was always “Tina and Rob”, forever. Also left to cherish his memory are Rob’s two sons, Brady and Owen. He loved being their dad and treasured every single moment spent with them. No father was prouder of his sons.
Rob is also survived by his brother Michael Awalt (Mandy) and brother Trevor Walker (Dawn); his father-in-law Lester Hawes; his brother-in-law Kevin Hawes (Susan); his best friend and work partner Nick Pilot; and special friend, Cousin Paul (Paul Hawes). Rob also leaves behind nieces; Riley, Emma, Kaylie, Brooklyn, Kelsey and nephew TJ, along with many extended family members and lifelong friends.
He was predeceased by his mother in law, Linda Hawes, father Ronald (Robert) Awalt, paternal grandparents Joan and Ronald Awalt, his mother Doreen Walker, and maternal grandparents June and Leonard Walker.
