Rosella was born at St Joe’s hospital in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on December 13, 1939, and was the youngest child of Archie and Ellen (Usher) Maclean.
She graduated from Saint Martha’s School of Nursing as a CNA. After graduation, she worked as a dedicated nurse at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay, Saint Rita’s in Sydney, and Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
She was a community-minded individual who was involved in many volunteer pursuits over the years and held close values of family and faith.
As a devout Catholic, Rosella was very active in the Church while living in Sydney. While a Parishioner at St. Theresa’s, in addition to attending daily mass, she was a member of the CWL, Senior Choir, and taught religion at Ashby School for many years.
Rosella met the love of her life (the late J. Redmond Curtis), and married in 1963. Rosella and Redmond shared an unconditional love like no other and you’d rarely see one of them without the other one close by.
Other than a 1-year stop in Fredericton, they put down roots in Sydney until 2005, prior to moving to Stellarton to be closer to family, and finally lived in Halifax as of 2014.
In addition to her late husband of 55 years, Rosella was predeceased by her parents and many siblings. She is survived by her children Stephanie (Vivek Sood) and Red (Jennifer Grandy) and grandchildren Jaya Sood, Riley Sood (Jacob Newman), and Jack Curtis.
Rosella had a cherished presence and was always full of joyous laughter. Her favorite thing in the entire world was spending time with her family, specifically her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed nothing more than cracking the bubbly and sharing stories with her loved ones. Over the years, she had the pleasure of watching her grandchildren grow up, attending a multitude of basketball games, recitals, and milestone achievements. Once settled in Halifax, Rosella took part in some of her favorite local activities including yoga, regular trivia nights, and happy hour with her friends at the Craigmore.
Along with her incredible fashion sense and unmatched shoe collection, Rosella will forever be remembered as a strong, loving soul, adored by many.

In lieu of flowers, put on your favourite party clothes and grab a glass of bubbly. Mom didn’t want us to be sad, she wanted a party.
