

Passed away May 31, 2017 at the age of 93 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Halifax. Born in Kingsport, he was the son of the late Roy Baxter
Loomer and Esther (Ells) Loomer. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the 408 Goose Squadron. He was shot down and became a prisoner of war in Germany and was held for 18 months. Upon returning from the war he was Secretary Treasurer of H.B.M Mechanical, Wolfville, until his retirement in 1973 due to health. He was a lifetime member of the Anglican Faith. Roy was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Banks). He is survived by daughter, Carol Ann Hopkins (Craig), Windsor; sons, David B. Loomer, Middle Sackville; Stephen M. Loomer (Colleen), Vancouver, B.C.; granddaughters, Lisa Marie Loomer, Middle Sackville, and Amanda Loomer, Nine Mile River; great- granddaughters, Raine Faith and River Grace; son-in-law, Jody MacNeil, Nine Mile River; brother-in-law, Earl Banks, Tantallon. He was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth, Josephine, Kathleen; brother, John. Thank you to the staff at Parkland Estates (Cameron Hall) for the exemplary care they received during their residency for the past 12 years. Special thanks to the staff at the 5th floor West wing at Veterans Memorial, Halifax. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. No visitation or service by request. A private committal will take place at a later date. Donations in Roy's memory can be made to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
