Ruth Madeline Bliss

4 May, 193622 April, 2020

Bliss, Ruth Madeline (Croft), 83 left this world the same way that she lived it, quietly and peacefully at Northwood Manor on April 22, 2020. She was born on May 4, 1936 in Necum Teuch, Nova Scotia. She was the child of John “C” Croft and his wife Mary Myrtle (Heath) and is survived by her brothers-in-law Kenneth and William Bliss as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Donald and her sisters Irene (Hodder), Lucille (Graham), Florabelle (Bezanson), as well as brothers Clarence, Edgar, John, and Daniel.

Ruth moved to Halifax as a young girl at age 16 to make her way in the world. She was employed in a lot of retail shops chiefly among them was Sears where she worked for some time. She met her husband Don in one of her favorite places, Trinity Anglican Church. When they got married Don paid the down payment on their new home and Ruth bought the furniture to go in it (she was very proud of this). They were to live in that house for the next 60 years. It was her next favorite place.

Ruth was a faithful and humble servant of Jesus Christ whom she loved. She marked her life from the moment of her conversion. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Anglican Church. Much of her life was spent in prayer and Christian activity. Ruth’s amazing dream was to be finally home in the arms of her Jesus and be with Him and to be reunited with her husband Don. Her dream has finally come true. She is in her forever favorite place.

Special and sincere thanks are offered to the family and friends who supported her in her final and challenging years, particularly to Doug, Katherine, Judy, Robert, George, Pat, Carol, Susan, and Marilyn. We would also like to thank the staff at Northwood for their care and compassion. A private grave side funeral for the immediate family has been planned with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Croft officiating. A memorial service is to occur at a later date when such gatherings are safe and permitted.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Missions Thrift Store, Lower Sackville or a charity of your choice.

“Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:23)

My condolences to the family. Ruth was probably the holiest example of a human being that I have ever met and he husband Don as well. I spent many evenings at their home on Saturday night for their weekly prayer meetings. She was a beautiful person and I will miss her dearly but I shall never forget Ruth or Don. I know that both of them are at perfect peace in the arms of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Grant Ruth eternal rest and peace, in Jesus's precious name. AMEN

We used to enjoy meeting Ruth and Don at Cousins when we took my father, Clarence Croft, there for supper every evening. Dad always enjoyed a big hug and kiss from his cousin. A remarkable couple and two people we will remember fondly.
