Born in Halifax on December 21, 1921, Ruth was the daughter of Thomas Wallace and Ada Wallace (nee MacNeil), and was the last surviving member of their lively and loving family of 15 children who resided in a large house known as “Glenora” on Chebucto Road.
Ruth lived a full life marked by her joyous personality, quick wit and devotion to her family and faith. A gifted artist, Ruth gave tirelessly of her time, drawing portraits of guests of the St. Mary's Basilica lunch program for years. She was a proud alumni of and ambassador for the Convent of the Sacred Heart, and a lifelong member of the Waegwoltic Club, where she swam and played tennis into her nineties. Ruth loved language, and was a voracious reader and an enthusiastic Scrabble player her entire life.
Ruth was predeceased by her six sisters and eight brothers, and by her devoted husband of 23 years, Bruce Graham, in 2011. She was a loving and devoted aunt to her 58 nieces and nephews and will always be fondly remembered by family and friends that have survived her remarkable life.
In accordance with Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Parish Church, on November 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall.
We acknowledge with gratitude the compassionate and dedicated care extended to Ruth over the past year and half at Arborstone Enhanced Care Residence, where Ruth made friends among residents and staff, and we were comforted to know her days were rich and fulfilling and her every need was met. Special thanks to Dr. Sophie Couture for her kindness and attention to Ruth’s care while she resided at Arborstone.
By request, no flowers.
