Ruth Lindsay Stevens age 78 of Glace Bay NS passed away at the VG Hospital in Halifax on February 29 2024. Ruth was the daughter of Donald MacKenzie Forbes and Dorothy Alexandra Forbes (nee MacPherson).
Ruth met her second husband (Gordon) while working for the Canadian Coast Guard in Cape Breton. She later returned to university as a mature learner at the age of 46 and graduated with her Nursing degree in 1993. After several years working as a nurse, both in Canada and the United States, Ruth retired with Gordon to their home in Cape Breton. There she enjoyed breeding Champion Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers for several years before moving to Amherst, then Halifax to be nearer her adult children.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Stephen William Blackman and Craig Alexander Blackman, her sister: Dorothy Marguerite (Peggy) Bourassa and her grandchild: Percy Blackman.
She was predeceased by her husband: Gordon Stevens.
