Sandra is always in my memory as being loud,  proud and full of love and laughter.  Some of my fondest childhood memories are getting to sleep over at their apartment and hang out with Laiden (sibling of which we share a father) Candace, and Christopher. I felt so accepted and welcome,  like my family was finally extended beyond the very small one I was raised with.  I wish I had gotten to see her more,  but everytime she was brought up it was always in a positive light. That was the light she shone unto us all.  There is other Sandra's but none will ever be her, still burning bright. Living on in every soul she touched.  I'll carry the precious small piece of her I have with me and cherish it.  Just like I know she cherished all of her loved ones.  Her family,  her community, her friends.  Rest in peace Sandra,  missed but never forgotten.

Dear Candace, Christopher, and Robert,

I graduated from the Interpreter Training Program with your mom and am shocked and beyond saddened to learn of her passing. Your mom was a special person and someone who has always held a very special place in my heart. Although it has been many years since we had been in touch, the memory of the time and laughs I shared with her nearly thirty years ago, is as vivid today, as if it were only yesterday.  

If I could say only one thing about your mom from that time period in our lives, it would need to be how proud I had been of her for being the mom she was to you three and her determination back then to make a career for herself, a good life for you, regardless of any and all obstacles.  Your mom was strong, beautiful, loving and full of fun, but ALWAYS a “mom” first.  You three were her world. 

Please know your mom was not only my friend, but also my hero and I loved her. So many will feel her loss and I can only imagine how deeply you, her children will. Your memories will always be with you and I know you will cherish them.  I have and always will cherish mine. I find such comfort knowing your mom lives on in each of you.

To the entire Spears family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I wanted to express my condolences to Sandra's family.  I only met your mom once two weeks before her passing teaming at Sorenson.  As an interpreter for 30 years, I and the deaf caller were so impressed with her role shifting and expression.  I put in a compliement to Award co and chatted breifly afterwards. We are so sad to learn of the passing of your beloved mother and Nanny-Nanny. I know how much she meant to everyone who loved her. I’ve never seen such an incredible love from a mother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest gift and love, and it was evident from the minute you met her.
