Sandra Warren

14 August, 1938 – 17 July, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

Alexandra Claire Warren (Counsell), 87, Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17th, 2026. Born to Alexander Campbell Counsell and Elizabeth Margaret Counsell on August 14th, 1938 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In her early days, she enjoyed spending summers at her family cottage at Matlock Beach with her brother , Bert Counsell (Stephanie), and sister, Stephanie Laidlaw (Jeff). As a young woman, she attended Saint Mary’s Academy and College before relocating to Vancouver to attend Nursing School. She then moved back to Winnipeg where she met her husband of 63 years, Tom Warren. They had two children, Claire (Mike Kidd), and Kent (Li Zhang). They spent their working years between Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Ottawa and Kitchener, then settling in Nova Scotia in retirement to be closer to their grandchildren Katie (Alex Mader), Mitch, and Christian.

Sandra was an exceptional gardener, winning many awards in Kitchener for curb appeal. She was a talented baker, knitter, sewer and worked as a custom framer. She enjoyed curling, playing bridge and golf. Sandra also loved animals, owning and caring for cats dogs rabbits, and a variety of other critters. A dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, she rarely missed watching a game.

Sandra and Tom travelled the world, making many stops in Europe, Asia, South and Central America. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grand children, relaxing by the pool with a glass of Chardonnay or fine chocolates, and threatening Tom with a one-way ticket to China.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the amazing staff at Northwood Ivany Place for their incredible care and compassion over the final year of Sandra’s life. We hope Tom enjoyed his one-year vacation in heaven. You better get your house in order, because the Boss is back!

Sandra is survived by her brother and sister, both children, her grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please consider a donation to Feed Nova Scotia or your local SPCA.
