Born on April 16, 1954, in Victoria County, New Brunswick, Sarah was the daughter of the late Harold Lawrence Parks and Shirley Evelina Carlisle. She married Merrill Robert Williams and became a dedicated, loving stepmother to Camilia, Andy, and Marsha.
Pursuing her passion for engineering, Sarah attended the University of New Brunswick, graduating in May 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. As one of the few women in her discipline during that era, she was a true trailblazer. In 1980, Sarah relocated to Fort McMurray, Alberta, taking on the role of Upgrading Project Manager with Syncrude Canada Ltd., where she garnered an excellent reputation among her peers across the construction and oil sands industries. While working for Syncrude, Sarah also earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta, retiring after 24 years of distinguished service.
Following retirement, Sarah and Merrill settled in Lockeport, Nova Scotia, where she was an active associate member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 080.
Sarah is survived by her three stepchildren, Camilia Williams, Andy Williams, and Marsha Williams; and her sister, Martha Bell. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Merrill Williams; her parents; and her treasured Springer Spaniel, “Katie.”
No formal services are scheduled at this time. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
Donations in Sarah's memory may be made to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 080 or a local animal shelter.
