MADER, Sheila Marie (Fitzpatrick) – Sheila entered into eternal life on Tuesday, June 21st at the VG, surrounded by friends and family. She was born in St. John’s, NFLD, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rita Fitzpatrick. Sheila moved to Halifax to study nursing, graduating from the VG school of nursing in 1969. She worked in her chosen profession for 35 years. Lovingly remembered by her husband Michael, of 39 years, son Ian, of Columbus, Ohio, and daughter Michelle (Jamie Rendell), Dartmouth and her beloved granddaughter Victoria Marie Rendell, and her siblings Maria Fitzpatrick, Judy Fitzpatrick, Eileen Fitzpatrick, Tom (Patrice) Fitzpatrick, Rosemary (Doug) Northway.
Sheila was a very caring and loving person, always thinking of others first. A familiar phrase we often heard from Sheila was “what can I do for you today?” She loved to entertain and was a very gracious hostess well known for her decadent cuisine. She enjoyed spending summers at the cottage in Mader’s Cove.
Sheila never let her illness define who she was. She was defined as wife, mother, sibling, grandmother and friend to those who knew her. Her love of life and for those fortunate to be in it, was unwavering and true.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, June 27th from 5-8pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531.
