

Merlin, Shirley Ann (MacDonald), 62. Passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on May 19, 2013 at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in New Waterford, NS, she was the daughter of Katherine and Neil MacDonald. She spent her early years in Long Point, NS and came to Halifax in 1968 to pursue a career in hairstyling. She lived a fulfilled life with her husband of 41 years, Bryan, while raising their children. She really enjoyed going to her children’s baseball and hockey games. Her biggest joys in life were camping, traveling and having a good time with friends, although her most treasured moments were with her five grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Merlin, daughter Katie Orr (Andrew), son Steven Merlin (Carrie), grandchildren Jacob and Ava Orr, MacKenzie, Madison and Riley Merlin, sisters Reynelda MacDonald and Dorthea Scott (Nick), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister Caroline McMullen, brother-in-law Daniel McMullen, brothers Miles, Stanley, Hector, John Alex and Jimmy MacDonald. A service will be held Friday, May 24, 10:30 am, in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax, NS B3S 0E1 (455-0531).
