Simon grew up with my kids on Brushfield Drive.  I met Simon when he was about 41/2 when he first move to NS.  He had a quite demure about him.  His shy smile was contagious but his subtle, honest humour was what I enjoyed most.  The kids on Brushfield grew up together.  We're family.  I remember frequent calls from Dan...."Is Simon there" - we knew it was Dan as soon as the phone rang.  That was the type of street Brushfield was.  That is the type of street Brushfield is.  

They say "It takes a Village" and the Brushfield area was that village.  We all looked out for each other.  My house was your house. Your kids were my kids.
- We played togeher
- We laughed together
- We partied together (we had some great street parties!)
- And today we cry together
Simon was one of ours.  We've all lost a son.

Dan, Maureen, Mitchell, Lauren.  I can't image the pain you must feel.  I only hope you can take some solace in knowing that we are all a better version of ourselves for having known Simon.

Dan, your speech at today's service was lovely and helped everyone there understand the different parts of Simon's life and who he was. Clearly by the number of people there he touched so many people and we were better for knowing him.
