Sylvia Frances Boudreau, age 90, of Port Hastings, NS died peacefully at Northwood Care Bedford on August 28,2026. Born in Kelleys Cove, Yarmouth County, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Doucette) LeBlanc and Sylvanus Smith and step-daughter of Albert LeBlanc. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Jean Bernard Boudreau, sisters Freda Van Tassell, Daisy Jordan, Eva Sulis and brothers Clifford, Albert Jr., Vincent and Timothy LeBlanc.
Sylvia met her husband Jean while they were students at Yarmouth Vocational School. They both played softball and liked to share a story of how they met on the ball field. This led to 71 years together. Sylvia dedicated many years to being a homemaker and raising six children in their home in Port Hastings.
An avid crafter, Sylvia spent most of her life knitting and sewing. Whether it was clothing for her young family, sweaters and hats for the grandchildren, she kept busy. Sewing grew to a passion for quilting, gifting many creations to family and friends. Sylvia found time to volunteer with Brownies and Girl Guides. She was recognized locally and provincially for her extensive volunteer work with figure skating, a sport close to her heart, as all four daughters skated.
Sylvia believed in life long learning. At the age of 56, she graduated with a diploma in Business Education in Accounting from NSCC Strait Campus.
She found pleasure in gardening, visiting her children and seeing her grandchildren. When Jean retired, they spent many enjoyable winters in Florida.
