Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, to the late Kevin and Myla Griffiths (Beck), Terri was the kind of person you didn’t forget. She had a gift for remembering you - your name, your face, your story; even if she might forget how long the french fries were supposed to be in the oven, but those were her priorities.
Terri had a way of making people feel welcome, seen, and usually laughing. She loved a good joke, a little sarcasm, and never took life too seriously - except when it came to the people she loved. If you ever hung up the phone with her, you didn’t leave without hearing her signature send-off: “Loves ya.”
Nothing brought her more pride or joy than her grandchildren, Chase, Bella, Evan, and Piper. She was their biggest fan, showing up faithfully to cheer them on at baseball, soccer, basketball, football, cheerleading; whatever they were doing, she was there, likely louder than anyone else in the crowd.
When she wasn’t on the sidelines, you could almost certainly find her at Kearney Lake - her favourite place in the world. From spring through fall, she spent countless days soaking up the sun, enjoying the water, and finding her peace. Winters were simply the long wait until she could get back there again.
Terri also loved to travel - anywhere warm, anywhere sunny, anywhere that felt like a good place to sit back, relax, and enjoy herself.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Chelse Fleming (Ryan Zwicker), her sister Yvonne (Bonnie) Thompson, and her cherished grandchildren. Terri was pre-deceased by her beloved nephew Richard (Rick) Thompson. She will be deeply missed by her many friends, neighbours, and all those lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.
True to her own wishes, there will be no formal funeral because, as she’d say, she didn’t want anyone “snottin’ or bawlin’” over her. Instead, a celebration of her life will be held on May 9, 2026, from 3 - 6 pm at JA Snow Funeral Home.
In honour of Terri, the family hopes to place a memorial bench at Kearney Lake, a place she loved so much, so others can sit, take in the view, and maybe have a yarn or two, just like she would have.
As we gather to remember her, there will be heavy hearts, but also more than a few laughs through the tears, just as she would have wanted. And if you’re thinking of her, or telling a story about her, there’s only one proper way to end it… Loves ya.
