Theresa was born on September 10, 1944, in Diman, Lebanon. She later made her way to Halifax, where she met the love of her life, her husband, the late Arthur Joseph Francis. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family, and went on to establish a successful business. After Arthur’s passing, Theresa carried on with strength and determination, continuing to grow the business with pride and dedication.
Theresa was a deeply religious woman, a devoted churchgoer who never missed Mass. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and a quiet source of strength, kindness, and compassion that she shared with those around her.
Theresa’s greatest joy in life was her family. She had a special gift for making ordinary moments feel extraordinary, always ensuring that time spent together was meaningful, memorable, and filled with love. Nothing made her happier than having her family gathered around her, and she cherished every opportunity to bring everyone together.
A very talented cook, Theresa was especially known for her delicious sambousik and znoud el sit, dishes that became family favorites. Her greatest happiness was watching her loved ones enjoy the meals she prepared, particularly during her cherished Sunday lunches, where laughter, stories, and togetherness filled the home.
Beyond the kitchen, Theresa had a deep passion for her home and flower garden. She took great pride in maintaining beautiful surroundings and was especially known for growing stunning hydrangeas. Family and friends always looked forward to receiving one of her carefully arranged bouquets, each given with love.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Joseph Francis (Pauline), Tony Francis (Jeanne), Donna Zaghloul, and Sadie Jabbour (Peter).
Theresa was a proud and devoted grandmother to her twelve grandchildren: Alexandra Francis, Arthur Francis, Salim Zaghloul, Joseph Francis, Anthony Francis, Jeremy Francis, Sadie Zaghloul, Jenna Francis, Samia Zaghloul, Theresa Jabbour, Paul Jabbour, and Natasha Jabbour, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
She will also be remembered by her sister Georgette Ghosn (the late Fouad Ghosn), her sisters-in-law Josephine Francis and Ann Hallal (the late Jamil Hallal), as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Sadie Francis, and her siblings: George Francis, Nadeem Francis, Nadia Ghosn, and Farid Francis.
Theresa’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the many memories she created and the strong family bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
