May 6, 1941 - April 25, 2020. Age 78 of Halifax, passed away peacefully in St. Vincents Guest House after a lengthy illness. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Richard and Eileen (O'Callagan) Fennell. Tommy moved to Halifax to attend NSCAD and Dalhousie University after winning multiple scholarships to continue his studies. He was honoured throughout his career in graphic design, painting, animation, sculpture, and photography. He served as Art Director for severalmagazines while working for Nova Scotia Communications and Information Center and CBC. He received several awards in New York City for painting and photography and was the recipient of The Coutts Hallmark ArtScholarship, Cape Breton County Scholarship and Bursary, Chateaugai Scholarship and Bursary, Elizabeth Styrling Nut Memorial Scholarship and Bursary, and The Lieutenant Governor's Award in Nova Scotia. He ended his career opening his own shop, Antique Advantage which specialized in repairing and restoration of antiques. He is survived by his wife, Joy; daughter, Ashley Pilkey (Christopher), Dartmouth;sister, Frances MacLean (Joseph), Sydney; brother, Art Fennell (Margaret), Sydney; sister, Judith Fennell, Calgary; and many nieces and nephews.
