

On Saturday, September 27, 2014, Dr. Vincent Wing Kong Ing passed away at home following a long courageous 41 yearlong battle with heart disease and other medical complications.
Born in Hong Kong in 1933, and the youngest of 10 siblings, Vincent immigrated to Canada at the age of 18. He attended the University of Manitoba for his undergraduate degree and then the University of Toronto for Medicine.
Vince was a member of the Doctors of Nova Scotia, The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, The American College of Physicians, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, The Canadian Medical Association, Nova Scotia Medical Association, Canadian Society of Internal Medicine, Canadian Society of Hematology, American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Halifax Medical Society.
Vince spent years working at Saint Michaels, Toronto General and Sunnybrook Hospitals in Toronto and the Halifax Infirmary, Victoria General and Dartmouth General Hospitals in the Halifax area. He taught at Dalhousie Medical School on a part time basis and also spent in the later years of his career many years treating patients in clinics in the HRM, Cape Breton, Windsor, and Yellowknife, NWT. Vince was known as a man with integrity, a kind demeanor, and someone who treated all people regardless of their backgrounds or job title with equal dignity and respect.
Vince was an accomplished and published Internal Medicine and Hematology Specialist who devoted his life and career to saving the lives of Atlantic Canadians.
Dr. Ing is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Davis), who felt he was the best husband a woman could have had; sons, David (Kelly Lonergan), Dartmouth, Andrew, Ottawa; daughter, Denise (Robert Hilts) Toronto and his 6 grandchildren who kept him smiling every day, Emma, Laura, Hana, Nate, Matthew, and Ella. People who knew him closely appreciated his dry sense of humour and wit.
Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive (902-455-0531) on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral will be held in Saint Benedict Parish on Friday, October 3, 2014, at 10:30 am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
