OBITUARY

Wayne Bruce Mead

6 September, 1950 – 7 June, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

A Life Well Lived

Mead, Wayne Bruce – 75 of Williamswood NS passed away peacefully at Bedford Transitional Health on June 7 2026. Son of the late John & Vallie (Robar) Mead, Wayne grew up in Spryfield.

A strong work ethic motivated Wayne to graduation from the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology as a licensed automotive technician from which he pursued his career until retirement in 2014.

Over the years he developed many interests including roller-skating, bowling, camping, hunting, archery, and 4 wheeling. Being a proud hockey Dad led to countless hours at rinks throughout the Maritimes; always with his Timmy’s in hand. After hockey was finished, Wayne became a competitive archer and member of the Osprey and CFB Halifax archery clubs enjoying more travel to weekly tournaments as well as several national championships. Fall was his favourite season as he looked forward to bow hunting at the cottage with good friends George and Tony. When not at the rink or archery club, he would take the ATV out on a trail ride, sometimes making his own trail.

Somehow he found the time to share his interests with son Russ and grandchildren whom he loved and cherished.

Wayne is survived by his wife Geraldine (Burke), son Russ (Jen), grandchildren Patricia (Michael), Brody (Steve), Jyana, Ema, Kameron, Stephanie, great-grandchildren Natalia, Michelle, Carson, siblings Rupert, Myrna, Valerie, Fern, Rose, Joan, Wanda, the Burke family (Deb, Colin, Lisa, Jocelyn, Curtis, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by siblings Catherine, Nina, George, Shirley, Patricia, Gene, John, Lawrence, and Russell.

Many thanks to the staff at the Halifax Infirmary 8-1 and Bedford Transitional Health 5B for their care over the past 7 months.

In keeping with Wayne’s wishes cremation has taken place with a memorial celebration to be held at a later date.

Rest easy Wayne, you will be missed.
