

Born in North Sydney, NS, December 24, 1937 to Charles and Lena (Kettle) Meade. Irvin was the youngest of seven children.
When Irvin was younger, he enjoyed playing pool, snooker and baseball. In his later years he enjoyed curling, wood working and travelling with Glenda to many parts of the world. Irvin helped with TASA minor hockey. He spent many years in the rink watching his son and grandchildren. Irvin loved attending yard sales and always was searching for the best deals, whether he actually got one or not. He also thoroughly enjoyed taking his granddaughter Alexx to many Natal Day Parades, then going for fish and chips. When Irvin’s family was young, they went on family outings, and he had a talent for scoping out the best breakfast spots.
Irvin was a bricklayer for over 20 years, attended teachers’ college, and then went on to teach the masonry course at NSCC, Akerley Campus until his retirement in 1996. During his time as a bricklayer, he was a recording secretary for the bricklayer’s union.
Irvin is survived by his wife of 64 years Glenda (Hamm), daughter Wendy (Serge), Son Brian (June). Grandchildren, Adam (Brooke), Alexandra, and Sara (Kurklyn). Sisters Hazel Murphy and Bernice King. Sister-in-law Jacqueline (Donald) Campbell, and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Charles and Lena (Kettle) Meade, in-laws James and Mildred Hamm. Brothers Horace (Laverne, Charles (Audrey), Lorne (Violet) and Bruce in infancy. Brother-in-laws Stewart Murphy and Edward King.
Irvin has been cremated.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
