He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Palmer); his children, Colin James Beaton and Sarah Joye Beaton; sister, Ellen Richards (Garry); brother, John (Joy); grandson, Luca. Brian was predeceased by infant son, Michael; and brother, Gerard (Gail). Lovingly remembered by in-laws, Dale and Joye Palmer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brian was a mechanic for 35 years, retiring from Halifax Police Department in 2014. A car and motorcycle enthusiast, his first car was a 1978 Chevelle. Brian had a profound love for music and as a self-taught musician he played drums, guitar and various other instruments. The ultimate do-it-yourself guy, he could fix anything he put his hands to. With a great sense of humour, he was known to make people laugh. He was a big Toronto Maple Leaf fan. He was a proud Nova Scotian with deep Cape Breton roots who enjoyed camping and travelling adventures with Cheryl and his children. Brian treasured time in his home with family, dog Shiloh and cat Billy.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for their care and compassion. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 7th at 2 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to QEII Health Sciences Centre.
