
Captain W. Gordon Foote, 95, Halifax, passed away on June 3. Born in Kelly's Cove, Newfoundland, he was the only child of George William Foote and Mary Amelia Mitchell. He is survived by his wife Marion (Collie), daughters Linda Wenglowski (Doug), St. Catharines; Judi McDonald (Michelle), Bedford; sons Bob (Beth), Timberlea; Bill, Amherst; grandchildren Kim, Duncan, Stephen, Gregory, Jessica and Joanna; great grandchildren Lucy, Simon, Colin, Gregory, Elizabeth and Audrey. Gordon spent his working career on the sea including everything from fishing on the Grand Banks in his father's schooner to commanding tug boats in Halifax Harbour. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War ll. Gordon's passion for the sea lasted throughout his life. He spent his leisure time sailing and was a lifetime member of the Armdale Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Company of Master Mariners, Masonic Lodge and a past Commodore of the Nova Scotia Schooner Association. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Scovil for many years of patience, kindness and care. Gordon was predeceased by Elsie Locke, his wife of 56 years. At Gordon's request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. If you wish, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
