William Frederick Rye

RYE, William Frederick - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Frederick Rye, 67, on March 25, 2011 at home. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late William McConnell Rye and Mary Eleanor (Branch) Rye.

Bill was an active member of the Brightwood Golf and Country Club. He was a past member of the Kinsmen Club in Kentville and the K40 in Dartmouth. During his career, Bill worked for HFC, Petro Canada, operated several service stations in Halifax, he was a past franchise owner of PermaShine in NS. And a Special Needs Driver for Stock Transportation prior to retirement. Bill was an avid golfer and his other hobbies included a weekly card group, watching his grandson’s hockey games, cheering for his Detroit Red Wings and Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Valarie Lee (Cameron) Rye; a daughter Tara Lee Rye, Halifax, NS; a son, William (Bill) Earl Rye Jr. (Holly) of Cole Harbour, NS; one grandson, Nicholas Alexander Rye; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29th from 2-4 and6-8 PM at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 30th at 10 AM in St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road, Halifax with Father John Williams officiating. Interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
