

Darlene Juanita Brown, 79, of Hamilton, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home with family. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at Riley Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 3:00pm at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aleman. Pastor Don Kirklen officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Aleman.
Darlene was born May 22, 1934 in Ireland, Texas, the daughter of Ernest and Ottilie Sommerfeld. She was confirmed on May 16, 1948. She was a life long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She attended school at Aleman, where she was a star basketball player. Darlene retired from Alexander Moulding Mill in 2003. She loved cross-stitching, reading, gardening, canning, cooking, scratch offs, and especially family gatherings. She was never happier than when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ottilie Sommerfeld, sister Dorothy Hardin, brother Milton Sommerfeld, son Robert Brown, daughter Belinda McAnally and Roy May.
Survivors include her sisters Erna Haase and husband Paul of Jonesboro and Ruby Braley of Quinlan; daughters Janet Shedd and friend Cindy Bruton of Moody and Marsha Turner of Hamilton, son-in-law David McAnally; grandchildren ~ Monica Andrews and husband Billy, Misty Gann and husband Michael, Michelle Neal and husband Chris, Chris Niemann and wife Jennifer, and Kniesha Rocha and husband Cesear; great grandchildren ~ Bryce and Jeremiah Andrews, Jake Gann, Elijah and Gabriel Neal, Kirsten, Caleb, and Karah Niemann, Preston, Victoria, Drew and Jewel Rocha; also numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
