James Gaither Green was an amazing man, born on April 21, 1933 to the late James Wesley and Pearl Maurine Ball Green in Mills County. He was raised in Pottsville, Texas and graduated from high school there. In 1950, he moved to Hamiton where he met Angie Louise Kruger, who he said was the meanest German woman he had ever met. It didn’t take long for her to steal his heart forever and they married 58 years ago on December 31, 1953 in Hamilton. Just a month beforehand he joined the United States Army and was later sent to Korea to proudly serve. He returned in 1955 to bouncy baby girl Jimmie Dean Green. Three years later they had a son, James Albert “Bubba” Green.
James drove a truck for WP Lawson, Northern Propane, Bishop Energy, True Flame and was an owner operator of his own trucks. In his retirement years, he drove for Jim Oosterhof. He loved his truck “Maxine the Mack.” You could always tell when he and his brother Billy were home, when the matching Mack trucks were sitting on the truck lot. James was a lifelong member of the VFW, American Legion and was a member of the Barn Church for several years.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Billy Rex Green; son, “Bubba” Green; daughter, Jimmie Dean Green and a granddaughter, Melissa Nicole Green.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Green; grandchildren, Eric Walker and wife Cheri, Jennifer Snoddy and husband Steve; great-grandchildren, Jacob Snoddy and Slayton Walker; daughter-in-law, Sue Green; sisters, Nella Beth Barfield and Floy Elliston and a host of nephews and nieces and a large community of friends.
