Mike was born on October 9, 1956, in Hico to the late Vernon Lee O’Bannon and Waunell Moran O’Bannon. He was raised in Hamilton and proudly graduated from Hamilton High School as a member of the Class of 1975.
On June 15, 1979, Mike married Eloise in Hamilton, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span 47 wonderful years. Eloise was the love of his life and his devoted partner through every chapter of life. Together they shared a life filled with love, faith, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Anyone who knew Mike could easily see the deep admiration and devotion he had for Eloise. They built a life centered on family, treasured time together, and stood beside one another through every joy and challenge. Together they raised their family in Crowley, where many of their most cherished memories were made.
Mike dedicated 33 years of service to Central Freight Lines before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependable nature, and the friendships he built throughout his career. Mike attended Saint Mary's Episcopal Church and Trinity Episcopal Church, where he valued his faith and cherished the fellowship and friendships he found within the church communities.
Above all else, Mike loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Weston and Triniti. Watching them grow was one of the greatest joys and highlights of his life. Some of his favorite moments were gathered around the table cooking meals for those he loved, often creating recipes that were both creative and sometimes interesting, watching classic westerns, cheering on his favorite professional sports teams, and taking family vacations to the coast.
In recent years, Mike and Eloise moved to Stephenville, where they enjoyed being closer to family. Mike especially treasured spending time with his nieces, Evelyn and Lainey, and becoming even closer with his extended family.
Mike was also known for his sarcastic humor, quick personality, and unexpected bursts of wit that could make those around him laugh at any moment. His sense of humor and memorable one-liners will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Eloise O’Bannon; his son, Jaime O’Bannon and wife Tiffany, along with their children, Weston and Triniti; his son, Dustin O’Bannon and his children, Shiloh and Preston; his sister, Michelle Jones; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Lee O’Bannon and Jaunell Moran O’Bannon.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Riley Funeral Home at 402 W Main Hamilton, Texas 76531. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Riley Funeral Home, with Father Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Country Oaks on Hwy 220 North in Hico, Texas.

Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, deep love for his family, and the countless memories he created with those around him. His legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on through all who knew him.
