On October 25, 1947, Brown Franklin and Ozella Elizabeth Payne Rogers became the proud parents of Sandra Kaye Rogers. She grew up and attended school in Huntsville, Alabama along with three younger brothers.
Sandy held various jobs and positions before taking a job at Redstone Arsenal for the government. Little did she know that this job would lead her to the love of her life, James William Ivey. He was actually her boss at first but then she became the boss when they were wed on November 12, 1988, in the Marshall Islands. They enjoyed the military lifestyle up until 1998 when Williams parents were starting to need help around the farm.
They moved back to Hamilton when William retired from the military. Sandy, being the busy body she was, found gainful employment in Hamilton at several places before retiring herself. She worked at the Calvary Baptist Church, Bob Wright Livestock and Andy McMullen Law Office.
Sandy loved the outdoors and everything around the water even though she could not swim. She loved fishing with her friends as well as hitting the backroads listening to some old tunes. Sandy was an artist. She loved to paint and this included her house. William never knew what color his house would be when he got home. She belonged to a painting group and went to a bible study class. She loved the people and being around them as much as she enjoyed the classes.
Sandra is survived by William, her husband; Bradley Wilbourn, her son; four grandchildren, Leandra, Kristina, Haley, and Cade. She also leaves behind three brothers, Terry Rodgers and wife, Bobbie of Huntsville, Alabama: Howard Rodgers and wife, Kateri of Osteen, Florida and Jerry Rogers of Mobile, Alabama. Seven great grandchildren will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Leah Smith; and one great granddaughter.
Sandra Kaye left this world to become whole again on April 29, 2026.
