Michael was one of the few people in this world I could be my authentic true self with without judgement, as he himself was always 100% authentically himself, a rare thing to find these days. When we met we had such a undeniable instantly close connection I knew we would be best friends. He never failed to make me smile and laugh, with his hilarious  sense of humor and amazing laugh, his singing and love for music, his dancing, his open spirit, and his beautiful heart. He had an open heart to others and taught me to do the same.  He lifted my spirit so many times and I can only hope our friendship did the same for him. I love you Michael and will miss you forever.

Michael was the most sweetest happiest person I ever met. I’m so sad that he had to go, but I’ll always remember all the fun times we had together. We would rap Drake songs in math class, and dance around every where . He was such a beautiful light ! I love you Michael💗

I met Michael in Orange County in 2019 and we quickly became friends (both born in 96). He was one of the very few people that I felt true authentic connection with as a human being. He just had a positive vibe. We would laugh and joke about the silliest things! that one friend you could just be goofy with and not care about what others thought, because we were having fun. He was incredibly intelligent with deep depth and self reflection. I’d introduce him to new music, and he’d be able to play it on his guitar very quickly. So, so talented. We would walk to the outdoor mall in Huntington Beach and drink tons of coffee while we shopped at urban outfitters. We made so many special memories, and he made such a positive impact in my life. I wish everyone had a chance to meet him, he is just that special. I send my condolences to his family. He will be missed by many ❤️

Dear Magaña Family,

I remember when Michael first transferred to our class at University Prep; my name is Abby Petersen and I was a classmate. 

Because our student body was so small, any new student was exciting. But Michael was immediately special: it seemed he quickly became popular with his bright eyes and laughter. He was just one of those people - dazzling and open.

Michael also stood out because he knew himself better than most of us at that age, and carried himself differently, too. It wasn’t until I was in college, thinking back, that I fully appreciated the resolve Michael had to be himself. Courage is contagious, and Michael had a larger influence on those around him than he may have known. Please know that I will remember him as part of my life, fondly.

I know there are no sensible words to be said about Michael’s passing, and how painful it is for everyone who knew him. (My father passed away unexpectedly last November.) My family is with yours, and we send our love to you now, and in the months and years ahead.
