Dear Francine, Gregory, Pamela and Jennifer
I was so saddened to hear of Ed's passing.  Thinking of you all and sending my sincere sympathy.   So sorry I was unable to attend the funeral service.  Ed touched many people's lives - mine included.  I'm grateful for the many years I got to know and work with him at Skadden.  May all your memories help you find peace and comfort.

My condolences to Francine, Gregory, Pamela, and Jennifer on your husband's and father's passing.
It has been many years since we spent time together, but those memories of the fun and 
happy times we shared have remained.
It may be just an odd coincidence, but just last Sunday I was speaking with a long time Skadden employee and mentioned Ed's name as someone from Skadden's old guard with whom I was a friend.
Both Lynn and I will cherish our memories of Ed's good nature, generosity, willingness to share, and fun loving attitude and be thankful that he was our friend.

Francine and family,
I am so sorry that Ed has passed.  But rather than dwelling on the difficult last months, I want tell you what you already know:  Ed was a true gentleman and an unfailingly wonderful colleague at Skadden.  He was always calm even in adversity.   And even then he would say  with a sly smile:  “Sometimes being calm is a simply a sign that you don’t understand the gravity of the situation.”  He always kept it light, even when it was quite dark.  And, of course, he reveled in never letting me come close to beating him at his beloved tennis.  I am so blessed to have been mentored by Ed and I will treasure his smile and laughter always.
