Spacious and versatile funeral home
With a large chapel and 3 family rooms, Boulevard-Riverside Chapels has plenty of room for funeral services. Our chapel features rows of pews and skylights for natural light. To enhance the natural atmosphere, the walls are decorated with verdant potted plants and indoor trees. The chapel comfortably fits 600-700 guests. For extremely large services, we have overflow areas with speakers. For traditional families who prefer not to go inside the funeral home, we offer family rooms with speakers and also overflow areas not connected to the funeral home proper.
For more intimate gatherings, several family rooms fit 10-15 people each. They are furnished with contemporary couches and chairs so guests and family members will feel like they’re sitting in a warm and inviting living room instead of a funeral home. These rooms can be used for overflow, privacy or small services. For those who practice Orthodox Judaism, we have an on-site mikvah. An outdoor sink allows families to wash up after a funeral.
Catered receptions
We also have a hospitality room that allows for catered receptions. Whether you're interested in a light continental breakfast or a formal dinner with multiple courses, let us arrange your food and beverage needs through a 3rd-party caterer so you don’t have to worry about these details during your time of need.
Personalized funeral services
When it comes to funeral services, many of today's Jewish families wish to blend Jewish tradition with their modern lives. The funeral directors at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels can help you do that. We are skilled at creating memorable and meaningful tributes that honor a loved one’s life and celebrates their passions, personality and individuality.
For instance, if grandma had a passion for tennis, we can display her rackets, ask guests to wear tennis apparel and give them tennis balls with a personalized message as a memento. If dad was a rock star on the guitar, we can display his axe and hire a band to play his favorite tunes.
There are thousands of ways to celebrate a loved one. You name it, we can probably do it.
We honor veterans

History
Boulevard-Riverside Chapels is the successor to many successful family-owned and -operated funeral homes in the New York metropolitan area going back more than a century.
Humble beginnings
The original Boulevard Chapels firm started in the East New York section of Brooklyn under the leadership of Harris Hyman. It evolved from a small family business in a livery stable to a major funeral home located on Empire Boulevard.
Riverside Memorial Chapel was founded in 1897 by Louis Meyers and began as a livery stable in the Lower East Side of Manhattan called Meyers Livery Stable.
The firm grows and expands
In the early 1970s, Boulevard Chapels merged with Parkwest Chapels (which split off from Louis' funeral home firm, Meyers & Company) on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Stanley Misikoff and his partners at Boulevard Chapels saw a need to grow the business even further and built a funeral home in Hewitt in 79 to serve the families of the South Shore of Long Island.
Upholding our legacy
Stanley passed away in 2009, but his legacy lives one. Barbara and Jill Misikoff and the rest of the Boulevard-Riverside Chapels team continue in the tradition of providing dignified and respectful service in accordance to Jewish traditions for New York families.
