Miles Rayner – Helen, 10/1/25 - 4/2/23, West Hempstead, New York, passed away at home on, April 2, 2023. She had been the wife of Samuel A. Miles z’’l and Seymour Rayner z’’l. Mother of Robert Miles, William Miles, Alexander Miles; grandmother of Arielle Miles (married to Andrew Cohen), Samuel B. Miles, Benjamin Miles, Elliot Miles z’’l, Erik Miles and Audrey Miles; great-grandmother of Ezra Miles-Cohen.

Helen was a graduate of Flower Fifth Avenue School of Nursing where she received an R.N. degree and volunteered as nurse cadet during World War II. She also received a B.S. from Adelphi College. She served as Director of Nursing Services for the Nassau County chapter of the American Red Cross, where she initiated several innovative programs in public health. Helen was a certified Lamaze instructor and was active in charitable and cultural institutions. Lifetime member of Hadassah, she was also a longtime member of the Jewish Community Center/Shaaray Shalom of West Hempstead, and adult volunteer for the Israel Defense Forces. Devoted to her children and grandchildren, she travelled to Martinique, French Guiana, California, Israel, and Mauritius to visit with them. She will be missed by all of her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Helen’s memory may kindly make a contribution to the charity of their choice.
