David Byron Jones

David B. Jones, age 84, of Highland, IN passed away on August 13, 2019. David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Jean B. Jones, his stepchildren Diane Anderson of Union Pier, MI, Daniel Hussey (Judy) of Naples, FL, Michael Hussey (Marguerite) of Rosemount, MN, daughter Sharon Humble and son Kevin Jones of Michigan; sister Marion and brother Rowan, grandchildren Madeline Anderson (Diane), Marissa and Miles Hussey (Michael). He is preceded in death by his sons Eric, Doug and Steve. David was born on September 1, 1933 in Akron, OH, to Alice Poole. He graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN with a degree in engineering. David was a draftsman and mechanical engineer, working the bulk of his career at Ford Motor Company and Eichleay Engineering. At Eichleay, David was a project manager for large construction projects in the steel mills of Northwest Indiana. David and Jean enjoyed flowers, their extensive gardens and participating in the Illinois Orchid Society. David and Jean were parishioners at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Highland and David was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge, supporting Mooseheart Children’s Home. David enjoyed his grandchildren and any opportunity to bake his famous chocolate chip cookies. David and Jean were inseparable in their time together, one rarely without the other. Their love and devotion to one another never wavered and was stronger than Inland Steel. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 19 at Kuiper Funeral Home at 9039 Kleinman Avenue in Highland, IN from 4-8pm. A funeral is scheduled for 10am Tuesday, August 20 at Kuiper Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery where David will be laid to rest. Pastor David Adams will officiate and Sheila Jones will sing. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David's life. The family would like to thank his caregivers for their love and support.
