Liz was born on March 21, 1961 in Evergreen Park, Illinois. She graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1983, subsequently earning a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Concordia University Chicago.
She was a passionate teacher, counselor, and coach, beloved by students and players for her dynamic teaching and coaching style, her wise spiritual mentorship, and her love for the game of basketball and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Liz began her career as a missionary teacher at Quisqueya Christian School (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), followed by Valley Christian High School (Cerritos, California), Timothy Christian High School (Elmhurst, Illinois), Illiana Christian High School (Lansing, Illinois), and Trinity Christian College (Palos Heights, Illinois).
She coached multiple sports teams through the years, but most significantly built strong women’s basketball programs wherever she went. She brought her high school teams downstate several times, winning the title in 1988. In addition, she took her Trinity Christian College team to the women’s basketball program’s first-ever NAIA national championship appearance in 2007. She was named Northwest Indiana Times Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003, and inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at Trinity Christian College in 2015.
Liz was deeply committed to her family and friends. She was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and never tired of giving selflessly to them.
