

Floyd Udell Kelly, age 88, of Rochester, IN passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010. He was born in Livingston, IL and was the first son of Cole F. and Elizabeth Bessie (nee Prosser) Kelly. Floyd graduated from Adams School in 1936 and attended Gillespie High School in Illinois. He went on to attend the Hollup School of Welding and Engineering in Chicago, IL. Floyd entered the U.S. Army in 1942, where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the E.T.O. with the 482 AAA AW BN 9th Armored Division. He married Opal Pearl (nee Perry) Kelly on October 3, 1942. She precedes him in death after 56 1/2 years of marriage, passing away on July 10, 1999. He worked 24 years for Inland Steel and several years prior to that at Graver Tank, before retiring to Lake Manitou in Rochester, IN. Floyd is survived by his three children: Floyd Thomas (Barbara) Kelly of Rochester, IN, Ronald (Barbara) Kelly of Minooka, IL and Patricia, nee Kelly, (James) Malloy of Cincinnati, OH. He leaves behind nine grandchildren: Corey (Sherri) Kelly of TX, Sean Kelly of Rochester, IN, Jeffrey Kelly of Bonfield, IL, Nicholas and Matthew Kelly of Minooka, IL, David Malloy of Orange County, CA, Jeffery Malloy of CA, Perry, nee Malloy, (Chris) Grein of Cincinnati, OH, and Josh Malloy of Newport, KY; three great grandchildren: Brooklynn, Addy and Monte Grein; one brother, James Kelly of Gillespie, IL and sister, Lorraine Bakewell of Gretna, LA. He was preceded in death by sister, Alvera (nee Kelly) Hill and brother, Ronald L. Kelly. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., May 18, 2010 at Kuiper Funeral Home. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.) Highland, IN. Cremation will follow service.
